Will the color “orange” detract from my already purple and black candy buffet for my Halloween wedding?

I am planning my Halloween 2009 wedding and am currently in the creation of the candy buffet. My colors are black and purple and nothing else at the wedding is really orange (except adorable treat bags I found). Today I found awesome bat shaped candies that are black and purple- I love them! I want them, but I also don’t want to disrupt the flow of the presentation. It may sound weird but I am a little “exact” when it comes to things like this and I want it to be perfect! What do you think?
Oopsie guys- I meant that the candies I just found (the bats) are black and ORANGE- not purple! My bad…!

Wedding Reception Garden Party, need ideas.?

My pregnant fiance & me are having a courthouse wedding with a few family members there this Friday. The next day, Saturday, we are having a BBQ reception party at her uncle’s house – he lives in the country and has a nice plot of land. Her dad has bought like 50lb of pork, 20lb of chicken, and like a veggie platter, and some random other things (theres going to be a live band also). Also, he has gotten like a 3 cases of beer. I think at most there will be like 30 people there (hopefully). I’m going tommorow, when I get paid, to get decorations for the wedding and liquor. What kind of decorations and liquor should I get? I have at most $150 budget to go on. I was thinking of white Christmas lights to put around the porch and other areas (there is going to be 2 to 3 fire pits there too). Liquor I planned on getting a big bottle of Bacardi and a bucket of fresh strawberries to make homemade fresh daquaries and some Tangaray (sp?) gin. What else can I get for decorations and liquor?

We are looking for a low cost video option for our wedding on 28th January 2012.

We are mostly looking for raw footage of the bride and groom preperation, ceremony and the wedding speeches – and a short edited video to music if possible.

Our budget for the day is approximately $500, although this can be negotiated, and we are MORE than happy to use student videographers or anyone who is looking to establish themselves or gain further experience in the wedding or events market.

I need to find a place that will refurbish and engrave my wood handled brass bell (this is a wedding gift).?

am pretty certain that it is proper brass. I live in rural Iowa so it is not likely that I will be able to find a local place to help with the engraving or refurbishing.
What search terms should I use to find service providers online? Or who would you recommend?

make sure it is proper brass, if it is plated you will have to have it engraved 1st then replated and lacquered.
real brass , get it engraved , polished and lacquered, make sure the polisher is aware of the engraving.

Would it be tacky if i used candle holders as a centerpiece and favors for my wedding?

I am getting married in May. As a centerpiece we want to put tea-lights (or the fake ones) in holders in a heart shape on the tables, along with some rose pedals. We have a loft area and it would look really cool from above. Would it be tacky if we etch the candle holders with a message and use them on the tables. And when the people leave they can be the favors.

Bridesmaid gifts – any unique ideas?

I am looking for something to give my bridesmaids as a nice thank you present. I am the first of my friends to get married so not sure of what to get. Everything online is corny and personalized. I don’t want to get them a tote bag or jewelry box – that’s pretty much what I’ve found online! I am doing an eco-friendly wedding with a “Poetry in Nature” theme, if that helps. Please give me ideas of things you would genuinely like to receive instead of just things I can give as if to just fulfill my obligation to give a gift! It would be nice if it fit my theme but it’s not necessary – it just shouldn’t clash (i.e. nothing TOO environmentally damaging). Thanks for your help!
